Sometimes an appliance error code can feel as worrisome as the error itself. You know the washer isn’t operating correctly but the code seems impossible to decipher. You may also wonder, “How do I reset my front load washer after deciphering the code?” Fix Maytag front load washer error codes like “Int” or F5 E2 with this guide.

How to Fix Maytag Front Load Washer Error Codes

Though any change to your washer’s function can cause alarm, error codes in front load washer displays don’t always indicate a repair. Some of the most common Maytag front load washer error codes often have simple fixes that are easy to implement.

Washer Error Code dET

This is one of those Maytag front load washer error codes that are only displayed on some models. Error Code dET indicates a problem with the detergent dispenser. It’s possible that the dispenser cartridge isn’t in the proper position or the detergent drawer itself isn’t fully closed.

Double check your detergent dispenser to make sure it’s positioned correctly and that the drawer closes properly. To clear the code, press the Pause or Cancel button twice and the Power button once.

Washer Error Code Int

Error code “Int” signifies “Interrupt” and will display when you pause or cancel a wash cycle while it’s in progress. The code will remain displayed while the washer finishes spinning and draining, which can take up to 20-30 minutes.

If the code remains after the washer is done draining and spinning, press the Pause or Cancel button twice and the Power button once. If the code still remains, unplug the washer for one minute before reconnecting the power cord.

Washer Error Code rL or F34

When this code is displayed it usually means an item was left in the washer drum during a Clean Washer cycle. A clean cycle can only be completed when the washer is empty. To clear the code, remove any items from the washer drum and restart the Clean Washer cycle.

Washer Error Code Sud or Sd

If your Maytag washer displays this code it means there are too many suds in the washer. Since the washer can’t spin properly with too many suds, it will stop tumbling and extend its rinse time to remove them. It may repeat this process as needed. There are several reasons why too many suds are produced:

  • Regular detergent was used in an HE washer
  • “No splash” or “easy-pour” bleach was used
  • There’s a clog in the drain hose

The code will clear when the washer removes the excess suds and resumes washing. To prevent the code from reoccurring, only use HE detergent with an HE washer. Refrain from using “no splash” bleach, which has a thickening agent that shouldn’t be used with HE washers.

If the washer doesn’t resume function, you may need to inspect the drain hose for clogs and remove blockages.

Washer Error Code F5 E2

This code will display if the washer door isn’t locking properly. Check to make sure there are no items blocking the door and that it’s closing completely. Press the Pause or Cancel button twice and the Power button once to clear the code.

Washer Error Code F7 E1

Error Code F7 E1 denotes a motor speed sensing error. This means that the motor cannot reach the right speed for the selected cycle. While this can occur if the washer drum is overloaded, it can also indicate a motor malfunction.

To fix error code on Maytag washer when F7 E1 is displayed, first check for overloading. Remove items as needed so the washer is only ¾ full. Press the Pause or Cancel button twice and the Power button once to clear the code. If the code remains, it’s possible there’s a motor malfunction that requires a professional assessment.
